Part 1 of Better Branding: Blog Banners - What do y'all think?

We're almost a week into February and it feels like 2021 is flying by! At the beginning of each month, I like to review the milestones from the previous month and create some goals that will help me frame my mindset. So let's dive into what last month yielded and this month will bring!

January was a crazy month, and a tough one to get through. So much happened in my life and in the world around us. Here are my notable milestones:

- I started my last semester of high school

- I finally started this blog

- I competed in my first pageant

- I finished all of my college applications

January, the start of the end of a major chapter of my life, a chapter that motivated a lot of these decisions. High school is coming to an end soon, and before you know it I'll be blogging from a dorm room. I'm nervous for what's to come in the future, but I know that wherever I end up, it'll be where I belong. January also marked the start of a year where I decided to finally live for myself, including starting The Realist. Months of doubt and fear boiled down to one simple fact: I won't see a lot of the people I meet ever again in my life, but I will always have to live with myself, so I might as well live it doing something I enjoy. That's also why I decided to try my hand at pageantry. There is a bucket list of things I want to try (comment if you want a post about it), and competing in a pageant was on the list. It was one of my favorite experiences! (Read more about it in a previous post) The last milestone on this list is something I did to prepare for my future, finished my college applications. I mentioned that January was the start of an end, and that means preparing for another chapter, college. I'll keep y'all updated on my journey, including where I go.

I like to think of February as the month of love, not just romance. This is my first Valentine's Day being in a relationship, so until this point it's about loving myself and those around me. February's goals include:

- Create content 3 times a week

- Hit 100 Instagram followers

- Drink 8 cups of water a day

- Spread more love

I've loved blogging, and I want to keep making content for all of you. My goal is to consistently post 3 times a week, on Sunday, Tuesday, and Friday. I'm still playing around with times so subscribe for blog updates so you can see when I post right in your email. I also started an Instagram that I'm planning some exciting content for so go check it out! (Link below) Beyond my content, health is something I've had difficulties making a priority, and recently I was diagnosed with Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome (POTS). When I stand up, I don't always have enough blood volume to get blood to my head, which causes me to faint. The #1 way to increase blood volume is by drinking water, so my goal is to be mindful of the liquids I have to make sure I get 8 cups of water minimum. My last goal is always a goal about personal growth, and this one matches with the theme of this month. I want to spread more love to those around me, especially during these times when love is hard to come by. This month is about loving myself, loving my friends, and loving the strangers I meet.

The last thing I do to prepare for the month is find a quote that matches the month's theme. These are my words to live by, and I really focus on doing my best to do that. This month's quote is:

"Spread love everywhere you go. Let no one ever come to you without leaving happier." - Mother Teresa

Can you tell I've been keeping with the love theme for February? These words are to remind me that regardless of who a person is, and how much I know them, everyone is deserving of love from others. Whether that's in the form of compliments, cute notes, or genuine kindness. I challenge everyone to spread a little more love this month, those around you will thank you for it.

And that's my monthly prep for February! Don't forget to subscribe for updates on what times I post on Sunday, Tuesday, and Friday. I want to post at times that are the best for y'all. My Instagram is also linked below and I have some really exciting plans coming up for y'all :) Until next time, this is your no-BS blog post from me, The Realist.

PS Drop a like if you liked that sign-off, I'm trying out some new things :)
